Under the cold blanket of the pale-dead moonlight nightmarish and garish beasts and apparitions manifest themselves. Old hunchbacked women with disfigured faces mumbleing evil and outlandish chants while the black mist thickens and rises onto the foot of my "bed". Cloaked figures raise from their twisted shadows with groans and growls resembling the last attempts of vocalisation from the back of a dying man's throat. The ominous glow of the long-gone spirits falling through the ceiling hurt my eyes, but I lay still and quiet to observe this cascade of breathtaking horrors, so familiar and comforting to me.
I raise from my black mahogany coffin and slide my hands over the padded lining made of red silk, attached to my casket with golden nails. All that I see in this room are memories of better times, times when ghosts and ancient undead ancestors were treated with respect, not hunted and feared. I guess vampires and werewolves and other a bit more bloodthirsty creatures were never perceived very well by humans, but still I think it's an awful waste.
I believe I've been sleeping for quite a while now... five decades at least. I've woken due to restlessness and gone out to observe my surroundings on several occasions during this period of time. I feed, walk around a bit, climb churches and then finally return to my mansion to continue my nap. I did stay up for week last year during which I caught up on recent medical advancements and obtained Internet. Immortality loses it's point after a few centuries... but I do love the fact, that the whole city changes so drastically and with it, so do the people. I think that hoodies and T-shirts are a bit too vulgar, but I quite like jeans: they even match my most festive robes. I believe that everyone should look their best at all times, formal clothes shouldn't be worn only in case of the danger of getting them torn apart or stained. Upon receiving a call from the uncanny Solomon Dee I must depart to the city... I know it's daytime, but sewers will do this time...
Goodbye... people
